Keeping Your Word
One of the most powerful things you can do is keep your word. Ryan Holiday says it best: do the right thing, right now. And a big part of that is being someone people can count on.
It sounds simple, but pause for a second and really think about it. How many times have you said yes when you didn’t mean it? How many times have you promised something you didn’t follow through on? Every time you do, you weaken trust not just in the eyes of others but in yourself. But when you keep your word, even in the small things, you build strength, reputation, and momentum that nothing else can touch.
There is science behind this too. A German study showed that when people made a promise, 63 percent followed through, even when they had no reason to. Without making a promise, only 22 percent did. That is the power of your word. It holds you accountable. It pushes you to rise to the standard you set for yourself.
And here’s the part most people forget. It’s not just about you. When you break your word, you don’t just let yourself down. You let down family, friends, teammates, coworkers, and coaches. People spend money, make plans, and shape their lives around the promises you make. If you flake, they pay the price too.
So ask yourself: are you dependable? Do people know your word means something? Or are your promises just words that fade? Anyone can talk. Few can back it up. Your word is your bond. Make it carry weight.
Protect Your Energy
Some people will always leave you drained, no matter how good your mood was when you saw them. They are energy vampires. They pull from you, never give back, and leave you worse than they found you.
Science backs this up. Studies show toxic relationships increase the risk of anxiety and depression by nearly 50 percent. Chronic exposure to negativity keeps your body stuck in fight-or-flight, raising cortisol and weakening your immune system. Being around the wrong people doesn’t just bring you down emotionally…it can literally make you sick.
And here’s the bigger picture. Bad people operate at a low frequency. If you stay around them, you stay stuck in that vibration. You can’t level up, you can’t rise into a higher mode where the better people live, where opportunity and peace exist. Low frequency drags you down before you even realize it.
Your energy is limited. You only get so much in a day, and where you spend it matters. It’s like that picture of moldy fruit, one rotten piece doesn’t just rot by itself, it spreads and spoils the whole bunch. If you keep letting low-frequency people into your space, it’s not just your mood that suffers, it’s your future.
The solution is simple but tough. Not everyone deserves access to you. Some people you’re just better off not seeing again. Say no. Cut ties. Protect your peace. Because when you stop wasting energy on people who drain you, you free it up to rise into that higher frequency. It’s the only place growth, love, and real connection exist.
Common Sense and Accountability
You need an ID to buy cigarettes. You need an ID to buy alcohol. You need an ID to drive, fly, or even walk into a concert. Yet somehow, there’s still an argument about whether you should need an ID to vote in an election.
To me, this isn’t complicated. Voting is one of the most important actions a citizen can take. If anything, it should have stricter requirements than grabbing a pack of smokes or boarding a plane. The fact that some people call this unfair or “too much hassle” doesn’t sit right.
Right now, 36 states require some form of identification at the polls, but in many cases it’s still weak. Even non-photo IDs are accepted. That’s not enough. If we’re serious about election integrity, it should be all 50 states, no exceptions. Anything less looks intentional.
Because here’s the truth. A system that doesn’t confirm who’s voting is a system built for corruption. And the ones pushing back on voter ID? They’re not worried about protecting citizens. They’re worried about keeping the door open for illegal votes. That’s the game.
Accountability should be the baseline. If we require ID for everyday stuff, we should absolutely require it for something as important as deciding the future of the country. It’s not oppression, it’s common sense.
