I’m Just A Normal Guy
Sometimes you forget how big of a platform the UFC is.
I just go about my day as everyone else, but then I have folks who recognize me here and there.
It’s not a big deal to me, but some people get a little frazzled 😆
One time I was at a sushi joint wearing a Max Pain shirt. The waitress goes, “Oh you know Max?! I babysit his son.”
I was like, “Oh, really… 😏”
I proceeded to play along for the whole dinner. When I got the check, I said, “What if I told you… I’M MAX GRIFFIN.”
She damn near dropped all her shit. Looked like she saw a ghost and the backpedaling began 😂
She goes, “Oh my mom knows him, blah blah blah.”
It was so funny and definitely a memory I will hold onto for the rest of my days 🙂
New Deal, New PAIN
It’s such a blessing to have a job doing what you love.
This business is so cutthroat, there are no guarantees. They will cut you like a pizza at Round Table anytime they want.
They aren’t obligated to resign you if they don’t want you. It is what it is.
But ya boy has a new 4-fight deal so get ready for the return of the PAIN. Aiming for October 19th and on!!!
First and foremost, thank you to Sean and Dana. And of course, my presentation Dave Hirschbein and Urijah Faber.
I’m gonna warn you. The welterweight division better get ready to be put on notice.
This will be the best Max Griffin you have ever seen.
Keep your eyes peeled for updates.
UFC 304
It’s pretty nutty how late the fighters are making their cage walks in Manchester.
I know in my line of work when I know the time I’m fighting, we adjust the training sessions for that time. This way, our bodies are used to operating at that hour.
Fighting at 3am is a challenge. Not only does the fighter need to be prepared, but the coaches as well.
That would mean training sessions in the middle of the night. Very inconvenient if you actually put yourself in their shoes.
But it’s part of the business.
Whatever it takes. By any means necessary, this is the name of the game.
You would probably have to start doing the graveyard shift. Start sleeping during the day and working at night.
But you would also have to adjust for the time change 🥴
You would have to calculate the time zone difference, convert it to here, and then fly to England early. At least two weeks in advance to acclimate.
Sounds daunting but it’s the life we chose. Good luck to everyone competing tomorrow night (or morning).

Always a pleasure getting to read your insight. So many things that non fighters probably don’t put much thought into.
I can’t even imagine all of the variables you have to simultaneously juggle in order to be a MMA fighter, yall are such bad asses.
Excited (but not surprised👏) to hear about the new contact, can’t wait to see you show out in Oct!
