Behave Yourself
If you haven’t seen the controversy around Muhammad Mokaev, let me fill you in.
He was an undefeated flyweight in the UFC until after UFC 304. Because he just got cut.
A lot of fans are stunned because he’s a young prospect at 23 years old. Never tasted defeat and can only get better.
But here’s the problem. His antics make him a nightmare for his employer. He’s been outed as a toxic guy, treating UFC staff like crap, etc.
It’s strange to me that some young people are clueless about these circumstances.
Maybe I have a better lens since I’ve done corporate America, but don’t give your boss a hard time 🤷🏽♂️
The PFL has even publicly said they’re not interested because he’s a pain in the ass to deal with.
It all comes down to past job history. If your references aren’t in your favor… then good luck.
Don’t be that guy.
The dude is still young so maybe he can change. But I heard he’s going over to Brave FC.
Unfortunately, that is going to be a pay cut.
Live and learn.
The World We Live In
Olympian gymnast Simone Biles told the media:
“You gotta stop asking Olympic athletes what's next after winning a medal at the Olympics. Let us soak up what we worked our whole lives for.”
I get it. The first question is always “What’s next?”
That’s the world we live in now. Fast paced. People get bored and forget so soon. Nobody is content.
Personally, I don’t like moving on until the mission is 100% accomplished. That means traveling back home, getting paid, paying out, and going over the fight. That means a debrief/after-action review with my team.
It’s pretty in-depth. There are so many takeaways in that session that I look forward to it. Always looking for opportunities to get better.
I can’t move on until the dust has settled.
Is Happiness Only Within?
In the book Awareness by Anthony De Mello, he believes true happiness is uncaused. Meaning you can’t get it from any outside stimuli.
For example, some people aren’t happy with a new car or house.
Here’s my take on this. While I hear him, I definitely don’t agree.
He’s right about happiness coming from within. But if your life is shit, it makes it a little more difficult.
De Mello’s message encourages people to look inward for a more stable, enduring sense of contentment rather than relying on external events or possessions to create happiness.
Let’s say you have a lot of money, and you want to be “seen”. You got the new car, the house, and all the luxuries. You are looking for external validation anyway.
It’s fair to say this individual won’t be content no matter what they do.
Or let’s look at the other situation. Let’s say you didn’t come from money, worked hard, and saved up to get a new car for your family. I imagine that would make that person so happy.
To say it’s not is just bologna.
I understand where De Mello is coming from, but I gravitate towards different literature personally.
